Tap to Pay - Getting Started

Overview

Follow this simple 6-step checklist to get up and running with Tap to Pay.

Tap to Pay allows your organization to turn any compatible iOS or Android device into a contactless payment terminal using the 2Account Mobile App. Patrons can quickly donate, join or pay using contactless credit cards, smartphones (Apple Pay & Google Pay), or smartwatches—with no additional hardware or card readers required!

Step 1: Check Device Compatibility

Before downloading the app, ensure your team’s smartphones or tablets meet the minimum hardware and operating system requirements enforced by Apple and Google.

• Supported Hardware: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 series or newer (including Plus, Pro, and Pro Max models), iPhone Air, iPhone 16e or newer.
• Operating System: iOS 18 or later.

Step 2: Assign your Anonymous Constituent Credentials

Next, log into your 2Account Web App (where you edit your forms)

• Configure your Anonymous Constituent Credentials by navigating to Tessitura >> LIVE Environment >> configuration.

Step 3: Configure Your Tap to Pay Form

Configure the set up or adjust the donation/payment form you plan to use on physical devices in the field. Keeping these as simple as possible makes the user experience very simple and fast.

• Enable Tap to Pay mode on the desired form.
• Configure the form options, Message Manger receipt, and the email address for an anonymous receipt if Only Anonymous is enabled on the form.

Step 4: Setup User Accounts & Permissions

Set up user accounts for the staff members and volunteers who will be taking payments on mobile devices.

• Create new users or update existing accounts in User Management.
• Assign the Tap to Pay feature under Mobile App Features.
• Multi-select the specific Tap to Pay forms each user is permitted to launch in the app.

Step 5: Download the 2Account Mobile App

Have your users download the official 2Account Mobile App onto their compatible iOS or Android devices from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

1. Download and open the 2Account App.
2. Log in using the user credentials created in Step 4.
3. The first time you use a device with Apple Tap to Pay, you'll be prompted to review and accept Apple's Terms of Service and the review the Apple Tap to Pay education guide. Once this is completed, you will have the ability to view your forms and accept payment.
4. Select Tap on the home screen to access assigned Tap to Pay forms.

Step 6: Start Accepting Contactless Payments!

You're ready to collect payments! When a patron is ready to donate or pay:

1. Launch the form in the 2Account app and select/enter the payment amount.
2. Instruct the patron to tap their contactless card, phone, or smartwatch against the back of your device.
3. Once a transaction has processed successfully, if Only Anonymous mode was enabled, the patron should be asked if they want a receipt. A confirmation screen will give the patron the option to enter their name and email for a receipt or they can tap "No Thanks" to keep the gift anonymous.
